Course Delivery & Duration

Duration: 52 weeks (including breaks)
Mode: Face-to-face classroom, workshop-based, and site training
Location: Level 6, 440 Elizabeth Street, Melbourne VIC 3000

Students will undertake:

  • 20 hours of classroom and practical learning weekly
  • 4 hours of self-directed learning per week
  • Real workshop training at M & A Cabinets Pty Ltd, a live cabinet-making facility

Completed Year 12 or Equivalent

Applicants must be at least 18 years old

All applicants attend a course entry interview to assess suitability, experience, and readiness for study.

English Proficiency

Students must demonstrate an IELTS score of 5.5 (or equivalent).

Alternative evidence includes:
• Education for 5 years in an English-speaking country, or
• Successful completion of an English Placement Test.

Identification & Credit

All students must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

USI & Credit Transfer

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer (CT) may be applied for previous skills, knowledge, or qualifications, which may reduce the course duration or fees.

While licensing is not mandatory in all states, cabinetmakers who install fitted furniture or structural elements may need trade registration.
Victorian students may apply through the Victorian Building Authority (VBA).
